The pSoken Wrod....May, 2015...

...and it feels as though we have hit the ground running. The year is beginning to positively pulsate with enthusiasm from all quarters and May's guest speaker was of the same order... Danielle McLaughlin.

Danielle has also hit the ground running.  Over the past five years, her stories have appeared in various anthologies including The Bone Woman and other short stories, recently published by Cork County Library and Arts Service, the Fish and Bristol Short Story Prize Anthologies. She has won awards and competitions and will be published later in the year, also being interviewed in 2014 by the New Yorker.

The Wrod is predominantly populated by poets, and it was a pleasant surprise to find the audience captivated by Danielle who arrived suitably armed with an amazing collection of flash fiction and short stories, both beautifully written and narrated, full of imagery that was very easy on the ear. She left the audience wanting for more at the end of each vignette, so much so that she was called to the stage on three occasions throughout the evening. Her interview with Moze Jacobs was informative and inspirational and is on You Tube at:
